My colleague & I dropped by Strangers at 47 for lunch, which is 5 mins drive from our office. Little did we expect that there would be such a hip cafe nearby; the same row as Kanna Curry House. We arrived at the cafe already filled with lunch crowd who are likely young & hip college students.
What's even more interesting is that people still flocked to the cafe despite having limited offering on the menu. Strangers at 47 mainly serves crepes in both sweet & savoury options, light bites & beverages - hot & iced.
The first few bites tasted quite enjoyable but the balsamic vinegar taste starts to overpower the rest of the flavours, thus slightly sour. This dish wasn't too bad, perhaps not entirely my liking.
My colleague's pick was Eggcited Over Cheese consisting wholemeal crepe, house-made tomato basil sauce, chicken chorizo, caramelised onion, baked mozarella cheese, golden hashbrown, sunny side up egg & rocket leaves.
Although I didn't get to taste her dish, the overall dish seemed more appetizing & balanced in terms of flavours. The ingredients used & the cooking style did reminisced a typical cafe-style breakfast set. My colleague commented it was delicious; only setback was the hashbrown being a tad too oily. But then again, which deep-fried food is not greasy?
Personally, I may not choose Strangers at 47 for my main course dine-in but I'd have to agree it's a great place for social hangout. It's full of energy & vibrancy; not to forget the friendly staffs attending to your requests. Pricing averages around RM20, which is slightly pricey for a simple cafe. Perhaps the price is quite normal nowadays with the rising cost of ingredients. One fun fact - it looks like Xandria Ooi's sister is one of the owners of this cafe. Rating: 4 out of 5.
