Some of my colleagues think that I'm pretty good with makeup. Truth to be told, I was a late bloomer & only started dabbling with makeup until recently. Well guess what, I am a bride-to-be & I needed to be sure that I look my best daily, while counting down to my big day. It's fascinating how life changing events can push a person to do things that he/she would've never imagined doing, or just too lazy to care about previously.
Enough of my past makeup history. I have been eyeing this Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar long enough last year & was hoping to treat myself one for Christmas. Alas, I was too slow because the product sold like hot cakes & went out of stock for weeks. When it was restocked, I jumped at the opportunity to grab one & add on another Watery Cushion Concealer into my shopping bag.
Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar (RSP: RM75)
As the name said it all, the lipstick is encased in a long, rectangular shape with two different colour tones combined into one. It comes in a variety of 6 shades - No. 1 Magenta Muse, No. 2 Red Blossom, No. 3 Pink Salmon, No. 4 Milk Blurring, No. 5 Daring Darling & No. 6 Pink Step. After several colour test swaps, I have settled for No. 1 Magenta Muse. The rest of the colours were too bright for my liking & most of the two-tones were indistinguishable.
It requires an unusual way to pop the lipstick out - push the square level down & the mechanism inside will push the lip bar out in the opposite direction. It is advisable to push out gradually & gently, keeping the lip bar short because the content tend to break easily. Why? It claims to be more moisturising than normal lipticks.
To achieve the two-tone effect requires a little practice. Otherwise, your lips will end up with an ordinary single colour. First, I applied on my bottom lip with the wider colour bar facing the inner lip. Then, I flipped the lip bar & applied on my upper lip, making sure the wider colour bar is on the inner lip. Ta-daa!
Honestly, the two-tone effect didn't quite turn out as well as I expected, even after I have practised applying it on a daily basis. I reckon the other option with more contrasting colour combination may promise better result. Did it live up to its claim of moisturizing my lips better than other lippies? Nope. In fact, it felt quite dry to my disappointment. You might want to apply lip balm as base coat first before using this lip bar. The colour turned out pretty so the minor dry texture won't bother me too much. Rating: 4 out of 5
Laneige Watery Cushion Concealer (RSP: RM87)
Decided to give this product a try since I have pretty bad dark eye circles & have been looking for a one that offers good coverage. It is supposed to complement Laneige's BB Cushion product by gently dabbing on problem areas & blending in with your fingers or concealer brush.
I'd must say, this product blends really well & did a good job hiding my tired eyes. For a natural look, I finished it with a few dabs of my own Sephora mattifying powder. See how fresh I look in an instant. Loving this product to bits!
